Tasked with designing and illustrating an article focusing on the future impact of climate change, I knew I wanted the tone to be both devastating and hopeful simultaneously.

 

The article offers a comprehensive outline of the possible human, wildlife, economic and environmental outcomes of continued inaction against climate change, while maintaining the position that positive change is possible.

To illustrate these complicated concepts, I leaned on the potential consequences discussed in the article to imagine a future in which the planet's ocean's have dried up. There, ocean creatures such as whales exist only in the imagination. 

​

Much like we see abstract likenesses of unicorns in the clouds, the figures in this piece imagine whales in the inky smoke clouds of the factories in the distance.

​
